The Perfume Pagoda is actually a set of pagodas and shrines in the Huong Tich Mountain (Mountain of Fragrant Traces) of the Marble Mountains range. After a 90 min or so bus ride from Hanoi, we took a boat ride for an hour to the mountain.
Our tour guide was very friendly. We found out that in Vietnam, to be a real tour guide, you need to have a University degree. His English was very good and he was knowledgeable and open to questions.
