Walking to the subway from class last week, I was eating some Toast (bad version of a grilled cheese sandwich) and passed some guys who were putting things into their truck. I got the chorus of "Hi! How are you"s from them, nodded, and kept walking. They didn't stop talking.
I turned around, walked back to the group, stood there, nodded, and said, "Hi."
"Oh! Hi!" They looked at me.
"You said 'hi?' What do you want?"
The leader looked at me, looked at his friends, blushed and finally stammered, "Beautiful! Beautiful! You are very beautiful!"
I said, "그래요. 감사합니다." (Really, that's right, is that so? Thank you.) He nodded, smiled. "미쳤어요!" (You're crazy!) I wandered away and a full ten seconds later they burst out laughing and leaders friends started saying, "You're crazy! She said you're crazy!" in Korean.
I laughed to myself the whole way home.
