More Disrespect, but an OK Class

Class started with Sabumnim and HR going back-and-forth over something to the point of arms-flailing/slapping/whining that reminded me of my brother and me. When we were, oh, 13 and 11.

I tried to ignore both of them.

TempMaster showed up and things got better. We did some poomse works in two groups. I was working with Sabumnim's group of color belts and one black belt who just started with this studio (I think she had a break). The black belt chick got hit on the hands for repeatedly screwing something up. There goes my "I haven't seen girls get hit" statement.

I still can't figure out why the new white belt is learning Pal Jang, but I'm sure there's some reason. I am finally, finally remembering backstances on everything. Yet I keep using a short stance on one part of Oh Jang; will correct that.

At one point Sabumnim was talking to all of us, trying to say something. She kept saying something about "물." She tried in English but didn't know the word. "Flow? Move like water? Be like water?" I asked.

"Yes!"

Meanwhile some guy I haven't seen at this studio before showed up tonight. After looking very curiously at me before I changed into my dobok, he pointedly tried to avoid looking at me for the rest of class. For that reason, I delighted in really working on my roundhouse kicks when he was holding a couple layers of chest protectors for us to use as kicking targets.

Trying not to stare...tsk, tsk... Doesn't he know that I am a movie star?

Hmm. I think it's time for bed.

An American educator moves to Korea, presumably to teach English. Instead she discovers that learning Korean one taekwondo class at a time is a more captivating activity.
