Ghost, Demonstration Practice, Overwhelmed by Vocabulary and Pushups

I'm suddenly overwhelmed by the amount of vocabulary that I'm studying. I'm starting lesson 5 of Sogang 1B. If I feel this way by this weekend, I'll finish lesson 5 and take a week long breather to review some things before going on to lesson 6. Otherwise, I'm going to take a week or two after I finish the book (8 lessons total) to go back through both 1A and 1B to clear up/pick up some things I had problems with.

I think I'm going to just drill/practice some of these new verb forms and vocabulary words with YJ and H this weekend. I usually don't advocate drilling, but I have to get these in my head. I think I'll make a list of the words and forms I want to practice, to make it easier. These are used a lot and I would like to use them well.

On to better language things! Before class, Ghost read "The Red Fan and the Blue Fan" with me. Crybaby Gold Medal Girl showed up midway through, so we have three voices on the recording, alternating portions of the text. Afterwards, Ghost and I talked about the story in Korean for several minutes. At some points he was speaking very rapidly and I was only picking up maybe a third of what he was saying, but I figure it'll be good practice to listen to. Also, I kept mis-conjugating something, something I've been correctly conjugating for a while. He corrected me at least 4 times before I understood. That will be painful to listen to.

When we came into the studio to sit down, Coverboy was teasing us, making hearts as us. (This is my fault as I've been making hearts between people left and right lately.) I said, "That's right! He's my little brother" and threw my arm around Ghost. Ghost jutted out his chin, "Yeah!"

Class was cool tonight. The last thirty minutes was demonstration kicking practice. The younger kids did some cool demonstration stuff. Yes, the photos are blurry, but I didn't want to use a flash because it would have been distracting.

"motivated to study Korean because of taekwondo"
photo. I will kick this language's butt! ㅋㅋㅋ)

After class, Master told us what we'd be doing at the demonstration. I will be doing striking, some sort of fist break that I've never done before. When I was in his office, paying the monthly fee, he asked me if I was doing my push-ups. I hemmed and hawed in a joking manner before telling the truth. "No."

"Today, you do one."

"I can do more than one push-up, Master."

"I know. But today, one. Tomorrow, two. 모래, three. 글피, four. Every day, plus one."

"Since today is the third, how about I do three today, four tomorrow, five 모래...?"

"OK."

He smiled. "Don't forget! 기억!"

Ugh, I hate pushups! I wish there was any other exercise that could take the place of them!

When is the demonstration again?

I hate doing them, but when I was doing them every day at the TempStudio, my arms were getting super nice.

It's the 29th.

Interesting photos. They look like apparitions.

So....how many pushups CAN you do?

I can do 30 good ones, another 20-30 sloppy ones. I can do more if forced. But I rarely do them, so how many could I do every day? Um...

Am I crazy?
I love push-ups. I'd do them everyday. Oh, wait, I do them everyday.

:D

30 is pretty good. I think that most women(if I remember it right) can do about 20 or so. Men do about 30. Keep it up!

Nice pictures. It reminded me of what was said about Jet Li. That he moves too fast for the camera. They had to use twice-speed film in order to get all his movements on camera.

They also reminded me of my taekwondo days. Fun times.

be well,

I don't drop my knees at least. :)

Most women? Heck, I KNOW most women I know can't do that many push ups. Hey, I just checked...I'd more than pass Army basic training. Ha ha ha!!

Thanks for the comments on the pictures. I love photos that really freeze action, but I hate the flash effects, so I'm learning to love the blur of movement.

An American educator moves moved to Korea, presumably to teach English. Instead she discovers discovered that learning Korean one taekwondo class at a time is was a more captivating activity.

Somewhere along the way, she met a Good Man, fell in love, and ended up back in the States. Still doing taekwondo, still learning Korean...
