I'm Getting Evicted

I came home to find my gas off.

Got a friend to call the landlord.

Found out that—unbeknownst to me—my boss has not paid ANY bills for over 3 months and I'm being evicted.

Like. Today.

Oh, Amanda! The drama never ends with that lousy boss of yours, does it? I hope she fries - foreigner or not, if you've promised to pay someone or do something for them, you pay them or do it. Is this something that can be fixed when you go to court this week? Do you have anywhere else you could stay - maybe with someone so you don't have to be concerned about reimbursement? Can/Have you started applying to other schools? And, of course, is there anything we in the States can do to help?

Go to the studio and kick the hell out of some targets for a while, if your cold is better.

Hmm, Could your Master (or other friends) help you figure out how to make the situation with your boss more stable?

Oh no!

Your boss is so rotten.

Keep us updated. I hope everything works out.

OK.

So it's a long story, but basically I'm OK to be in the apartment this weekend but I have no gas and hence no way to cook, shower, wash clothes, or heat my house. (If I take a cold shower, I will not be able to warm up again.)

I'm packing as if I'm moving, even though Sort of New Boss assures my friend (but not me, he hasn't dared to call me) that "everything is fine." This is such a face-saving BS act on his part. Nobody will ever admit that they're all in the red and it's time to call it quits.

I'm going to stay with some friends for a few days, have NO idea what will happen Monday.

Master doesn't know what's going on yet, but he will soon. He doesn't know it yet, but we're going out for soju together next week!

I will be looking for a new job, but that brings up a lot of messy visa/sponsorship/red tape issues.

I have support here, I have money, I'm doing fine. I can't think of much anyone in the States can do, but thanks for the offer, Katie.

I talked to a friend back in America who said that I seem to have a pretty good sense of humor about it, and that I seem pretty calm. I think that's the TKD rubbing off on me...

I'm glad you have everything covered! It was pretty horrible for you to find out that way . . . you have to leave that school ASAP.

What I can't figure out is why she didn't tell me. I mean, she didn't even come up with one of those grand Korean face-saving lies, like "they're fumigating your apartment, you need to be somewhere else this weekend." I found a note on my door Thursday night, gave it to her, she pocketed it and said NOTHING. It was that scripty handwriting, so all I could read was "3 months."

Will she show up at work on Monday? I can almost believe she will. I mean, something is honestly, seriously mentally wrong with her.
