"Maybe Me, Neither."

Yesterday Good Man renegotiated his contract at work (because it's a new year). Everyone did this, but he wasn't expecting it. He managed to get quite a raise, which of course meant a wayshik (forced coworker drinking thing).

Good Man is so funny when he drinks. He's such a nice, sweet, lovebird drunk. And usually his English is fine.

Still, I have no idea what this means.

"Johnny Depp just got the first Golden Globe. For him. Ever."

"OK, hon."

"Maybe me, neither."

Can you believe it's been two years since you've been in Korea. I bet it went by pretty quick. It did for my. I read your two year post in a few days last week:)

It was Interesting. Your ability and decision to learn the language must be culturally rewarding / fulfilling.

Three are some behavioral traits that are bazaar such as telling someone that they don't look well as a gesture of I care about you and I like you that's why I'm concerned about you looking as if you don't feel well.

Yet there is that common bond that unites all human races such as love of children, family, and friends. Compassion for the sick, dying, and hungry. The grief that we all share when we loose a loved one.

And to be able to think and express these all too human attributes in two different languages really brings the human race into focus. It doesn't matter what language we speak, we all experience like human emotions. Love, hate, compassion, jealousy, happiness, loneliness, and sadness.

Great post.

Garfield, thanks for the post. But I've only been here 18 months. Sometimes it feels like 2 years! I've had a great time here, don't really want to leave.

Mom, I don't know. I asked him about it this weekend. He said he thought I said "I didn't know that," and he was agreeing with me? He's such a smart guy, such a funny drunk.

An American educator moves to Korea, presumably to teach English. Instead she discovers that learning Korean one taekwondo class at a time is a more captivating activity.
