Nice shots Amanda. I especially like 20:06:29..

Hey, can you recommend recruiting companies or schools in Korea for english teachers? I know you had your share of bad work experiences over there, but maybe you can point me in a good direction? I'm looking to go after next year, and wanted to start researching...

Hey Jonathan.

Unfortunately my recruiter isn't working any longer. I would STRONGLY suggest you go public school, though. I worked for GEPIK and that went well. Recruiters in Korea are sort of like hogwons--a dime a dozen, quickly going in and out of business and changing names.

Oh I've already decided that I want to go the public school route (based, on large part, due to reading about your, and other's, misfortunes in dealing with hagwons). I've heard of GEPIK through other blogs as well, they're like a placement service for public schools or something, right?

It's a program. SMOE is for Seoul. GEPIK is for Gyeonggi-do. EPIK is the rest of Korea. I know some cities/provinces have their own special programs, too, but I don't know the names of those ones.

An American educator moves moved to Korea, presumably to teach English. Instead she discovers discovered that learning Korean one taekwondo class at a time is was a more captivating activity.

Somewhere along the way, she met a Good Man, fell in love, and ended up back in the States. Still doing taekwondo, still learning Korean...
