Hurricane Irene Takes Aims at My Truck

I got home Tuesday night, missing the 5.8 earthquake that struck the area by a few hours. And this weekend we dealt with Hurricane Irene.

So. Apparently I will not be waiting a year to get a new car.

Where's the Branch?

We weren't able to find the branch that caused that damage.

The Blue Book value on my car is only about $2500 (and that's being generous) so I didn't have comp on it. I'm not going to bother to pay for repairs considering the value of the car, its age (a '99), the fact that the rear leaf spring needs to be repaired... No, this is a sign that I need to get a new (used) car.

Good Man will be out of town this week, and preplanning starts at school, but luckily I found several coworkers who are willing to carpool with me.

Good Man and I went for a ~3.5 mile walk around the neighborhood. We saw one downed line (it looked like cable, not power), and a downed robin's nest. We saw no other property damage. Why my truck? (Good Man's car was right next to mine and doesn't even have a scratch on it; we have comp on his car!)

But hey! I will get air con! And a CD player and/or USB hookup! A car with air con, a dream come true!

Are you home now, 아만다? I think I missed something! How sweet that (in your previous post) Mother said you were her daughter. I mean, of course you are, but isn't it nice to hear? Mission accomplished. :)

LOL. I just saw that at the beginning, and I went, "Oh, duh, I missed that the first time around." Anyway, I'm very sorry about the damage to your vehicle! I hope the insurance covers it. Good Man looks happy in the reflection in the car window--I'm sure he's delighted to have you back and that that was the worst of the hurricane damage (I hope).

I added that sentence after your comment, so you didn't miss anything. :) And I didn't have comp on it, so no, insurance won't cover it. Oh well!!

i am sure your dream will come true. an upgrade to a vehicle with cd/dvd player, ac, usb hookup and other gadgets. judging by your last post, would you say that your trip to korea was more than successful at all levels? i think you have earned a sense of belonging. btw, for your future vehicle, buy a kia or hyundai, toyota, honda, or nissan. all of these vehicles are built right here in the good old usa and are better than any gm, ford, or chryler.

David, I'm going to be doing a few more posts about Korea and how it all ended up. Stay tuned! Hee hee.

As for the car, sorry, but I really like driving Good Man's Ford Focus and intend to get one.

An American educator moves moved to Korea, presumably to teach English. Instead she discovers discovered that learning Korean one taekwondo class at a time is was a more captivating activity.

Somewhere along the way, she met a Good Man, fell in love, and ended up back in the States. Still doing taekwondo, still learning Korean...
