Amanda Takes Off...

One of my students lost a nickel of her lunch money today. I asked the kids to look around and another girl said, "I found it!" and held up a nickel.

"No you didn't," a boy yelled, "I saw you take that out of your desk."

I stopped myself from glaring at the boy and said, "She found it in her desk, how kind of her!"

It touched me that the girl was trying to do something nice and have it be unknown. Right before she walked into the lunchroom, I leaned down and whispered, "Thank you. That was kind of you."

"No problem," she whispered back.
